A typical Autumn landscape from the fens near my home.
Hay bales stacked up for winter feed. Fields of black earth exposing the grassy banks of the drainage dykes.
Christopher Witchall's landscape painting captures the wide open spaces and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire fens, where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years.
His unsentimental approach to landscape combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
