These paintings are the result of moving through the landscape in and around Somerset over the last year. The images are inspired by memories of scenes and objects seen in the landscape, as I walked and cycled around Somerset. observing the changing seasons.

The paintings explore bold marks of colour, using acrylics to get the memories of a place or object remembered down quickly, without over thinking the marks or the comppostion of the colours, allowing the memory of object and experience arrange themselves upon the paper.

This series of landscape inspired paintings where created at the same time, with the paper arranged side by side on tables, allowing the movement of the arm and hand to place the paint as the memories flowed from my mind onto the paper, capturing the the Somerset landscape, quickly and intuitively.

These have been painted in the spirit of abstract expressionist painting developed in the USA.
