A painting to commemorate the historic Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (3rd June, 2012) the view is from Westminster Bridge looking towards Lambeth Bridge.
The inspiration for this painting not only came from a photographic source, but from the spirit of the British people who made the whole occasion such a spectacular event.
Hundreds of rowers from all over the world took part in rowing nine miles along the river Thames.
The flat light grey reflection of the river from the cloud overhead, provided a 'Lowry' style pale background for the colorful contrast of the boats, with their heraldic flags and bright costumes of the crews.
acrylic paint, goldleaf paint
