"Land of Cotton" is the first painting of my series of abstract landscapes inspired by the Southern United States. Upon returning to my childhood home in Arkansas from five years in New York, I realized how much home is a part of me. This cotton field abstract is inspired by the cotton fields of the American Mississippi Delta. The words to "Dixie" are written on the face of the painting and texture swirls in from the right side, as if a warm summer breeze. Painted from reference photos I took outside Leland, Mississippi, near where my husband was born and spent much of his childhood.
48 x 20 x 1.5 inches / 121.9 x 50.8 x 3.8 cm
