Marks made by farming the land have always been interesting for me. Whether it is a line of hedgerow, ditch or tractor tramlines, I enjoy the way they carve out the landscape , adding a graphic note to the view. They can also obviously increase the perspective value and sense of distance. Sometimes these lines are painted in and at other times I like to scratch them in to reveal some of the previous paint colour layer. The pink palette came from sketchbooks kept while on visits to Scotland - and the colour of rosebay willowherb is truly mesmerising!
The painting is framed in a contemporary style washed wood frame.
