Original artwork description:

The Lake District: “The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal. Always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest….” (Alfred Wainwright).

There is no place like the Lake District and I am inspired to paint every time I visit. This painting transports you to a Cumbrian valley with its “dancing beck”. Sunlight flows into the valley, bouncing off the hillsides and highlighting the rich colours of the landscape. All features within the painting point to or lead from the light source: The hills, the dry stone wall, the banks of bracken and most significantly, the 'beck'. The beck, with its lively white water, creates movement within this lakeland scene.

It is painted in acrylics on deep canvas, using brush and palette knife. The canvas edges are painted white and a frame is not required. A canvas hanger is attached, allowing the painting to hang flush with your wall.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, varnish
