A man and woman wildwater swimming, developed from my series of 'Lake Swimmers' sketches.
This is a drypoint, a form of etching where the image is created by scratching directly onto the plate. Since no acid is needed, the metal isn't dissolved as on an etched plate, but is thrown up on each side of the line, creating a thicker, soft line. This wears down with each successive print, hence the small edition of 9 prints.
I've left ink or polished it off in areas to create the tone - this is the painterly mono printing part of the process. The plate is inked for every print in the edition, meaning each one is unique.
Orders are mounted, wrapped in acid-free tissue, flat-packed between two layers of board in a stiffened envelope and dispatched signed and tracked within four days.
