A couple of weeks ago I stood on an overlook on a warm January day to paint this scene, The lake results from a dam on the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, Texas, and named after Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, who played a key role in the Pacific in World War II. Born in Fredericksburg, 30 minutes away, he graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville.
