Original artwork description:

I have painted Scottish Thistles in the style of my current series! I really enjoyed painting these thistles, it was a satisfying challenge and I would like to paint more and explore different colours like with the rosehips! Can't wait to see what you think of this!

It is also a painting that has the same composition from my tall long natural form series. I am striving to capture a sense of stillness, tranquillity and calm in each piece. This rosehip painting from my is unique in compositional terms and represent a fusion of realism with minimalist elements. Each painting in the series is carefully designed to focus the viewers' attention on key compositional devices, resulting in very striking and almost surreal imagery. Direct observation from nature is often combined with an imaginative and personal interpretations. This series is completed with professional quality acrylic paints and mediums and I employ a range of representational and abstract techniques.

There is a subtle tonal contrast that has been incorporated to create depth and a powerful presence for the rose haws. The composition is a particular favourite of mine, I really enjoy the tall thin stalks carrying the beautiful serene poppyseed heads, and the thistles allow the same surreal, beautiful effect and to me it is very aesthetically pleasing.

This painting has the border painted black so it can be hung without a frame, it has hanging string on the back to pop straight onto your wall. I sign all my paintings with Louisa Corr on the front of my artworks. Thank you for your time and interest in my paintings.
