Influenced by the repetitive portraits of Andy Warhol.
NEW YORK series
The idea to do a series of work about New York was inspired by my honeymoon in 2013, (which is why my wife features as model in several paintings!). Many great artists have a New York connection and I wanted to have that as a theme running through the series by including a nod to several of those artists whose work I admire. Some of the artist connections are more obvious, such as the Jackson Pollock sky in ‘City of Ambition’ and the repetition of the statue of liberty portraits in the style of Andy Warhol’s screen prints.
