This monotype painting explores Picasso's image: its composition and its form through the technique of monotype painting/ printing. The image forms part of a series of works I am exploring - observing and producing monotypes based on images from artists I admire, creating images that response to how I view the work in another form of making.
This image works with the ghost image, pressing again on slightly damper paper, creating a more ghost like version, giving a sense of the obscured and un-clear. This further changes the original image, bringing a sense of entropy and the entropic nature of image making and the re-evaluation of images from the past: re-looking at what images can become when played with in a mopre contemporary manner.
