The artist revives the absence of female figures that were censored in Ottoman Turkish painting and erased from the traces of the past from a historical perspective, and completes the absence of the past with his paintings. Small lace textures, individual memories and traditional clothing come together with the figure that sheds light on history, creating a new story on the canvas. The laces that adorn the dowries of young girls emphasize the handicraft with commemorative values that have been in every corner of our homes for many years. He creates a textured surface by using the lace sample he took from his wife Göknil Gümüş Sungurtekin's dowry as the basis for his painting. He brings together the similarities of the lace textures with the ornaments, motifs and textures he had previously made on the walls. With his motifs, ornaments, laces and choice of figures, the artist combines recent and distant history by benefiting from similarities with his own individual memories. He gives these materials a new life and meaning, saves them from the brink of oblivion and gives them a new expression with the transformative power of art. He creates a historical and aesthetic perspective consisting of moments and memories from the present to the past.
