I love painting dogs. To date, I have painted over 200 pet portraits for their owners (all of whom have been delighted I'm pleased to say!) not just dogs though .. I've been asked to paint portraits of cats, cows, and even sheep! (Good job I love a challenge!)
I paint from high quality digital photographs and I always say to my customers that it's really important to send me a clear photo of the animals' eyes ... they are after all the window to the soul! It's through the eyes and facial expression that I aim to capture the individuality and personality, so always choose a photograph that best represents your pet. If you have a soppy dog, choose maybe a cocked head pose, a doleful look ... if you have a fun-filled, crazy pet, choose a photo with a mad expression! The madder the better!
I'm fortunate that my commission book is always well stocked, but I'd love to hear from you if you'd like to discuss a possible painting, and I'd be even more delighted to paint it for you.
"Sam Fenner is well known for her contemporary and eye-catching dog portraits. Through stunning technique and with wonderful painterly quality, she manages to skillfully convey each dog's unique expression and successfully capture their personality on canvas. Sam's sought-after work never ceases to delight." (PB, Curator)
