'La Sévre Niortaise'
Oil on canvas on board, 24 x 30 cm
'When you put your hand in a flowing stream, you touch the last that has gone before and the first of what is still to come.' – Leonardo Da Vinci
I guess I am often drawn to water scenes, and I painted this view of the Niortaise river as it flows through La Mothe-Saint-Heray on it's way down to the city of Niort last week. A lovely time of year on the river banks, and visited by a number of local fisherman, as the water quality appears to be in great shape and clear, and often during the course of the painting, there was the sound of the fish rising.
