Original artwork description:

A painting on canvas board, with texture created by collage, inspired by my recent holiday in Sicily, while staying at a Borgo.

I was immediately struck by this blue door and did a watercolour sketch of it. The Borgo owner, Luigi, loved the blue door sketch, and told me that it had particular significance for him: when he bought the derelict property, he loved the battered old door, and an elderly local man told him that it had been painted blue when he was a lad. Luigi then sought out the right blue colour for it. The original of the blue door painting remained with Luigi.

The detail images show my signature and some of the collage.

Materials used:

Acrylics and collage
