Title : La noche de poesia
This work captures the magic of a night in Spain, 80 years ago, in an old tavern, where poetry, music and religion are intertwined in a world full of mystery and tension. The protagonist, Fernando Pessoa himself, emerges from the dark lights of the tavern, as if overwhelmed by the poetry heard around him, and lost in his own thoughts, as inaccessible as the poetry he writes.
The scene is full of luminous contradictions: while the light of the lamp flickers, the darkness of the tavern seems to hide invisible worlds and intangible presences. Amidst the noises of conversation and music, we notice the mysterious presence of the Virgin Mary, who remains hidden in a corner, almost invisible, but with a sense of holiness and peaceful influence on the atmosphere of the tavern.
The figure of Fernando Pessoa, almost silent, embraced by his words, exudes an air of inner tension and subjective dimension, while the other characters around him, the unknown and the suspected who make up the tavern company, follow their own path, mixing everyday life with the ghosts of the past. Among them, the figures of the Virgin Mary and other unknown figures from Pessoa's life, emerge like ghosts of the spirit, hidden behind the shadows, transforming the atmosphere into a mixture of spiritual tension and philosophical search.
The tavern’s color contrasts — the warm orange of the candlelight, the dark blue of the night that invades through the windows, and the heavy reds and browns of the wooden floor — enhance the sense of discontinuous time, where past and present are confused and become indistinguishable.
Fernando Pessoa’s presence is not limited to his external form, but reflects the poet’s own pain and creative anguish. His eyes, full of searching, look at the world around him, but at the same time they seem to look at his inner world, where poetry and religion meet and interact, creating a sense of the sacred and the everyday.
At the center of this scene, the Virgin Mary, completely hidden, appears not in the form of her sweet and tender image, but as a transcendent presence, as an inner guidance that guides the search for poetry and faith within a world full of contradictions.
The work comes rolled in tube for safety reasons and you can stretch it at any local framer or art shop.
The painting is original and signed by me on the back and front .
