Original artwork description:

One of my painting as Romain Héjé, when i walk through the garden to the old barn where i paint on sundays when every one left.
"The portrait without model ..."
The model for this portrait is a poor quality newspaper photography of small size : 3 x 4 cm printed on poor paper and yet the woman's face illustrating this written article was tremendously expressive. It was enough to suggest a painting. Will i be able to give an account with the painter's means of this strong and positive expression or at least not to betray it? It is about the artist and his model in a world where "model'painting" is no more, in a world where everybody's face is to be seen by everybody, in a world where the artist do not paint anymore in that classic manner. What's the point? Has it a sens to do that? I painted it two years ago. The article was about the Dr Laleh Bakhtiar and more particularly her translation of the Quran. I learn that since then she dies, a news that sadden me.

Materials used:

oil paint and canvas on a wodden strecher.
