Sculpture in tinderbox, "The young lady with the green beanie" is a dreamlike work belonging to the imaginary Ostreïds series.
The Ostreids series expresses the complexity of life in its search for the most appropriate form for survival, as well as the wisdom of the mind applied to the transformation of matter.
This sculpture is made from a very special and rare wood material, a solid dark wood from a polyporous fungus, binder wood, which grows on some dead tree trunks and itself becomes as hard as them by feeding on wood cellulose. The sculpture is completed with surfine wood cellulose modelled and painted then varnished.
It can be placed against a wall thanks to its small ring on the belly, or laid flat on a piece of furniture.
Materials: amadiou wood, surfine wood cellulose pulp, acrylic and oil paint, protective varnish.
Signed by the artist.
Dimensions : about L30 x W17 x H11cm
fungus wood, wood surfine cellulose, paint, varnish
