Original artwork description:

This Acrylic and Ink on 300gsm paper mixed media piece was started as an Ink drawing after the previous painting. I wanted to do this picture to show the beautiful castle in more detail whereas the previous painting was more focused on the treetops and a wider scene. I like to use the combination of Ink and Acrylic because of the different effects and levels of shading that can be achieved when drawing over the paint. It was also painted over 3 early morning sessions from my Hotel room in Kumamoto and then I finished it back home in Taiwan by adding Ink over the top of the paint. I was very fortunate to have this great view across the city to the Castle and would get up before breakfast each day to try to capture it in the early morning light. To add to the previous pictures' comments about how the Japanese celebrate the blossoming Sakura as it represents the fragility of life and re-birth, when I was painting this scene a few days after the previous painting, many of the pink Sakura had already fallen to the ground. The re-birth can be represented by Kumamoto Castle as it is currently being rebuilt after suffering major damage in a huge earthquake a few years ago. I was originally going to paint in the two red cranes either side of the tower, but decided not to add colour to them. I built up the piece using thin layers of Acrylic paint over the original Ink drawing and then drew over the paint with Ink to add depth and definition to the scene.
A note to International Buyers:
Shipping rates have increased in price all around the world due to Covid and other complications. Due to this I have had to increase the the cost of shipping my artworks in line with the Delivery Companies. I will always strive to find the cheapest possible option for the customer (usually my local POST OFFICE EMS Recorded Delivery, but unfortunately they don’t deliver worldwide at the moment) If the amount of shipping charged at purchase is less than the shipping company charges then I will refund the difference to the customer. This refund will be done after the picture has arrived safely and has been accepted.
