Koi, oil on canvas, 80 x 80 x 2 cm
Koi, a flickering glimmer of red and gold, the water twists and turns. The green blue depths shine emerald as spectral life glides by. I glimpse the colour, I hang my hand in the water, I feel the cool space where the graceful red phantoms live. I lose hours, watching, feeling myself being lulled with the gentle motion around me. Bubbles rise to the surface, golden sunlight refracts the shapes, I remember the legend of the Koi as dragons.
Inspired by Monet’s use of colour, Koi has been created to suggest the fleeting abstract shapes of carp in water. Created in vibrant oil paint, Koi is ready to hang.
