Original artwork description:

One of the smaller oil paintings from the successful series of koi paintings, a gallery wrapped canvas with the painted image extended around the outer edges of the canvas. Framed in a simple white wooden frame that cleverly reveals the painted edges of the canvas.

I keep koi myself and yes these are some of my own fish. Really both interesting and fascinating to watch and for me an opportunity to widen my colour palette.

Feeding time for the koi involves congregating where they know the food will hit the water. Swimming nearer the surface of the water with the more confident fish nearest the surface. All is calm until the food comes and then they feed in quite a frantic way.
