Kingfisher in flight
Photo reference courtesy of Terence Porter
Painted in two stages. I wanted to replicate the beautiful colours of the kingfisher in the background, so with that in mind a watercolour wash was created including textural elements to represent sparkles of light on water droplets.
Once dried the kingfisher was painted on without a preliminary drawing. My aim was not to get too detailed, just paint enough information to depict the subject.
