Certificate of Authenticity

This window celebrates the crowning of King Edgar, the first coronation of a king of all England, by Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury and Oswald, Archbishop of York in the Saxon Abbey in Bath on Whitsunday in 973. The bottom of the window shows King Edgar being rowed in a boat on the River Dee by Welsh and Scottish kings as an act of homage. Among other features of the window is an open book, an ink pot and a quill pen which represent the reopening of places of learning by King Edgar and St. Dunstan – Bath Abbey being one of the first of such places.

This painting has been created using high quality acrylic gouache which is know for its vibrancy. The highly saturated, contemporary colours create a unique contrast between old and new. This painting forms part of a wider collection of works exploring modern society's relationship with religion.
