Artwork description:

I grew up in the shadow of the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The land here is harsh, great crags enclose bare sweeps of wild, open moorland, swept by untamed winds. Home to some of the hardiest sheep ever bred, eking a living from this landscape has always been fragile.

However, on the 'edge lands', the places where the moors and fells fall down to the great industrial plane of Teeside, there exists a ribbon of fertile land, given over to a gentler, arable way of farming.

Autumn dawnlight, as the sun creeps over Roseberry Topping and the northern edge of the Cleveland Hills, is always a favourite time for me. The scene here was captured just days before harvest time.

Limited Edition prints are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl 285gsm paper, a premium quality, acid- and lignin-free paper. FineArt Pearl paper has a similar foundation to that used in the past in traditional silver fibre prints. Its premium formulation allows for high image definition, deep blacks and outstanding reproduction of colour and detail.

Prints are on A2 paper size, each in an edition of 20, plus 1 Artist’s Proof. The image is printed full frame onto the standard sized A2 sheet. The actual print will have a border around the sides and top to allow for framing.

An A1 limited-edition print is also available of this image, again limited to 20 copies. Please contact Jonathan for pricing details and availability.

Smaller prints are also available in A3 and A4 limited editions.

Materials used:

Shot on 35mm Tri-X film and printed onto Hahnemuhle archive paper
