GICLÉE PRINTS: 25x38cm (50%) image on PermaJet FB Gold Silk 315 (A3, 30x42cm) paper using Epson UltraChrome HD inks.
Part of a collection of work celebrating colours, textures and shapes from the London Underground. By careful selection of perspectives and viewpoints (and by removing almost all of the people), Rebecca is able to take ordinary scenes and reveal their underlying beauty and style, which can so often go unnoticed.
In this work, a lone figure walks along the platform at Kilburn Park station on the Bakerloo line, as the light from a nearby Tube train is faintly reflected in the tunnel.
In some of these works, Rebecca bolsters the Tube's own artistic merits by playfully substituting great artworks for the stations' advertisement posters. In this piece, Matisse's cut outs La Musique, Icarus and Femme a l'Amphore transform the station into an art gallery.
