KERSBROOK GUM TREES
Around my home town of Adelaide, are so many beautiful nature walks, which inspire many of my paintings.
“Kersbrook Gum Trees” was just one of these.
Roachdale Reserve is near Kersbrook in the Adelaide Hills It is a
Pink Gum forest, situated along beautiful and secluded creek with magnificent Red Gums.
In the spring there is also a high diversity of native orchids and the many other wildflowers.
In a region extensively cleared for agriculture, Roachdale Reserve also protects a rare piece of native bushland containing one of the few remaining stands of Long-leaved box forest, once widespread in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Kersbrook is in the hills 20 km from Adelaide. First settled in 1831 by farmers growing wheat, oats, barley and potatoes. Today the main crops are wine grapes, apples, pears, cherries and alpaca farms.
