Fire is one of the elemental forces of Nature. Something happens to us when we sit before fires: new feelings come up within us; new visions come to us, visions that were not there before. A fire shifts the mood to one of purpose and possibility. No matter where a fire happens to be, it weaves its spell. The fire is an essential ritual for humanity.

The “fire” metaphor is useful because it is universal and timeless in its appeal.

These are just some of my thoughts when creating this oil painting. I saw the struggle between light and dark, warmth and cold, material and the ethereal. I hope it will sparkle your own imagination too.

Painted after life, alla prima, using high-quality oil paints on a gessoed canvas panel. Varnished for dust and UV-protection.

Signed on the front and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
