GICLÉE PRINTS: 26x34cm (83%) image on PermaJet FB Gold Silk 315 (A3, 30x42cm) paper using Epson UltraChrome HD inks.
Part of a collection exploring and celebrating the colours, textures and shapes to be found in the tunnels of the London Underground.
This piece depicts Kennington station on the Northern line, as viewed directly along the edge of the platform. The symmetry of the image contrasts the clean, smooth lines of the platform with the rough, residual traces of old advertisements on the tunnel wall.
By careful selection of perspectives and viewpoints (and by removing almost all of the people), Rebecca is able to take seemingly ordinary scenes from the Tube network, and reveal their underlying qualities of beauty, which so often go unnoticed.
