Original artwork description:

A charcoal piece completed before a commissioned oil painting. I always like to begin by drawing in charcoals. It helps me to understand the tonal qualities of a view before I attempt to paint it.

Kennack Sands is the beach that rests at the end of the valley near my home. It is a beautiful place, the silver sand contrasts wonderfully with the dark and richly coloured Serpentine rock that is found here on the Lizard Peninsula.

Part of a series of sights I have documented around the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall.

Materials used:

Charcoal, Paper, Fixative.
