Original artwork description:

My visit to Bangladesh in 2022 had a huge impact on me. I was privileged to see the most remote and isolated areas of that beautiful country, meet the most humble and generous people and yet see a level of poverty that really shook me. On my first day back in the UK I was invited to my local village fete and it was at this event that I could really compare the abundance of wealth on view to the abundance of poverty that I had seen just a day earlier. It both saddened and angered me to realise that this gap between the rich and the poor was so wide and that it was only going to widen whilst profit and greed were the Gods of the so called elite.

I wanted to create a painting using my realism style to show a situation in the future where those who have chased profit and greed whilst trampling over kindness and empathy are now in a prison which is controlled by one of the many millions who have suffered through this policy. This is Karma Prison.
