CREATING A SINGLE MANDALA
"There is love in every pound, a blessing in every thread."
Cognition and feeling are the most important things that go into creating a
Mandala. To create a Mandala, I first need to know who I am creating it for,
and why. From there, the Mandala pattern runs through my cognition. I am
always looking for that right feeling, *the* right feeling.
The Mandala pattern is my creation, but the nature of it depends on the
person or people for whom I am creating that Mandala. You can ask me to
create a pattern of love, protection, or abundance. Even deeper, you can
ask me for all three common Mandalas, or even some other force, one with
a clear orientation.
You can always trust that I will personally recognize exactly the kind of
Mandala you need the most, at that given moment.
I will start creating the Mandala from a drawing. From there, I then transfer
the drawing to a square meter plate. Next, I'll hit the plate with nails, which
will start to run the pattern. The number of nails depends on the complexity
of the Mandala. Certain Mandalas can require north of 2,000 nails, in more
involved and detailed circumstances.
From here, the sewing begins. Some threads run faster than others: Some
circles take an hour or two, others might take a day or three. There are
different threads, some of them are sensitive to UV light, they make the
Mandala come to life.
