Original artwork description:

Kali is a Hindu goddess who is considered to be the master of death, time and change. She destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent. Despite Kali's origins in battle, she evolved into a symbol of Mother Nature in her creative, nurturing and devouring aspects. In this image of Kali, I replaced her usual weapons with various modern accoutrements. She holds in her hands weapons of war (AR-15, atom bomb, missile), the corona virus (zoonotic diseases), a cross (organized religion), money (greed), a cell phone (misinformation, social media), an oil rig (the plundering of the earth’s resources), and finally a chicken (the animal-industrial complex). Climate change, war, pollution, mass murder, and the destruction of the natural environment are the weapons she uses to destroy humans. She is the Mother but also the Destroyer of human exceptionalism.

Paper, Ink, Etching Plates, Monoprinting Plates
