In my linocut piece “Just Another Number” I wanted to convey simply and directly my own feelings of futility at the state of our world. The little faceless profiles set in rows is but a fraction of the countless many who feel as I do, angry and powerless to change the trajectory of our lives and the way the world is going. Connected by our insignificance. Or shouldn’t our sheer numbers give us power to change?
Each little profile is cut into Lino and hand printed individually onto Somerset Satin paper. The numbers and letters placed on the heads are cut from a variety of newspapers and collaged by hand. Each print in this limited edition will be unique as the profiles are placed in order of chance as are the numbers.
A Variation of this linocut print was exhibited at 2023 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
