Jump! is an acrylics and sumi-e ink on canvas abstract painting. It contrasts an organic background reminiscent of a mountain landscape with geometric shapes and illustrative, figurative art in the foreground. The contrast between shapes and forms affords a playful back and forth between abstract shapes and intrepreting the scene in a more realistic manner, with a modern building set into an alpine scene... and a person having fun in the snow. Similar to my other paintings, I contrast various painting styles, from traditional Japanese sumi-e up to Nordic abstract / illustrative and minimalistic art from, for example, Carmen Herrera.
