This painting is dedicated to the war in Ukraine and is one of the illustrations of the many tragic situations that are happening now in Ukraine because of russian invasion.
This July I remember one my swim in the pond. When I swam to the middle of the pond, a military plane flew over my head at full speed and with a terrifying roar. Just like that, a quiet and sunny summer day broke in. It was a Ukrainian fighter, but that didn't lessen the sense of sudden terror that came over me.
That's why I created a painting that is symbolic and shows the reality of life in Ukraine cut in half. Before the Russian invasion and after that. Therefore, the fighter in this picture is russian.
This deadly machine invades the peaceful July swimming of a Ukrainian woman, and she, fragile and terrified, finds herself face to face with destruction. The fields and part of the pond, over which the plane flew, like the breath of death, became lifeless - the fields burned, and the water darkened and became poisonous, so that even the fish in it died. The second part of the painting is bright and beautiful. The breath of war has not yet reached there. The woman finds herself right on the border of these two worlds, and this is the whole drama of the picture. Perhaps this woman symbolizes Ukraine, which also found itself alone with a terrible enemy in the face of Russia.
