Original artwork description:

This painting is called  Joy Tree Three and is painted in acrylic paint on a cradled wood panel. It is made by building up layer after layer of paint, richness, texture, colour and pattern.

It is an original painting in a small series that all have a similar feel and theme. Before I started work on this series I made a few notes on how I wanted the paintings to feel and be, some broad intentions for the work. I wrote “Other worldly. Magical forest. Wonder and awe of trees. Multi-layered.”

It is made with acrylic paint as I wanted to build up a complex paint surface and for each painting to have a hidden history which occasionally reveals itself. 

As the  paintings started to come together I thought of ancient wise trees, stable, inter-connected and  majestic…

The wood panels are hand prepared with light coats of primer and then I finished each painting with satin UV varnish.

The paintings are signed on the back and come with a cord so are ready to hang or frame dependent on personal preference.
