I have always had a soft spot for Horses. For this commission of the very handsome Johnny, I first took the time to groom Johnny, learning his character and allowing him to relax in the presence of my camera.
Working from photographs that I took using a combination of polo mints and patience, I achieved a dynamic three-quarter portrait. The contrast created from the light on his shoulders and the light catching the very edge of his nose pulls the portrait out, adding depth to the overall piece.
