Original artwork description:

I got the inspiration for this painting observing the Palio race in Siena. There is a multitude of people in the middle of the square, and all screaming and shaking inciting horses and jockeys to run and run faster and faster. There are bright colors, high contrasts of light and shadow, fleeting visions of eyes, noses, mouths, arms, hands ... everything intertwines and blends ... except those two jockeys on their horses that are flanked and shoving hit by a ray of sunshine in the late afternoon of August.
I managed to take a picture with the iPhone that, once arrived home, I used as a reference for some sketches. Later I transferred the design onto the canvas and I painted.

(Ho avuto l'ispirazione per questo dipinto osservando la corsa del Palio a Siena. C'è una moltitudine di persone nel mezzo alla piazza e tutte urlano e si agitano incitando cavalli e fantini a correre e correre sempre più veloci. Ci sono colori accesi, alti contrasti di luce e ombre, visioni fuggevoli di occhi, nasi, bocche, braccia, mani... tutto si intreccia e si amalgama... tranne che quei due fantini sui loro cavalli che si affiancavano e si spintonavano colpiti da un raggio di sole del tardo pomeriggio di agosto.
Sono riuscito a fare una foto con l'IPhone che, una volta giunto a casa, ho utilizzato come reference per alcuni schizzi preparatori. In seguito ho trasferito il disegno sulla tela ed ho dipinto.)
