I went to visit a friend one year in January as a very gentle snow was starting to fall. She has a number of horses in a large barn and was kind enough to walk some of them out for me to take some photos. I'd produced a few paintings of another friend's horse, an ex-racehorse who has since passed away, and was keen to make some more horse studies and paintings. Equestrian art is a newer challenge to me, I've not grown up around horses so they present a steep learning curve in anatomy, though this is a more abstracted piece.
The sketch is in oil on board, raised, mounted on board and framed.
