I got an inspiration for this painting when on a sea trip to see James Bond island in Thailand. It is located in Phang Nga Bay and the name of the island is Khao Phing Kan. It got its nickname after the shooting of the James Bond movie in 1974 “The Man With the Golden Gun”.
The painting is built up of veils of colour, scribbles and scratches. Broad, dynamic brushstrokes and expressive paint drips are balanced by rhythmic patterns, scratches and marks made with a palette knife.
There is a variety of mark making and contrasting areas of transparent and opaque paint all of which enliven the surface of the painting and convey an overall atmosphere of a hot and sunny day on the Andaman Sea.
