Original artwork description:

Jazz_211 is an acrylics and sumi-e ink painting on canvas depicting two famous jazz musicians (Roy Hargrove and Ron Carter). The painting contrasts bold, moody and somewhat "jazzy" colors with the a joyful splash of vibrant orange, inspired by the often dark jazz clubs but also expressive nature of jazz improvisation. The abstract geometric shapes and figurative and recognizable shapes of people also produce a contrast yet also melt together as a whole. The painting combines my signature color palette while exploring novel ways of integrating figurative shapes.
