This beautiful, ethereal landscape was inspired by 'landscape jaspar', a rock with strata which takes on the aesthetic of landscapes. It is the 'impurities' into this form of quartz which give rise to the stunning veins and colours - for example the reds derive from iron inclusions. Landscapes are calming to the human eye and by adding the more surreal elements of scarlet and cerise, the work also is lifted into an ebullience of joy and an increased transmission of energy.
