Original framed gouache painting of China Cove in Point Lobos near Carmel-by-the Sea in California. China Cove is famously known for its emerald luminous water. I have always been attracted to a bright turquoise color of water in the shallow part of the cove, and the greenish-blue rock shadow. This 8”x10” gouache painting features sweeping brushstrokes to showcase the movement of the water, reflections, and the texture of the cliffs.
This is a gouache painting on 140 lbs 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor paper mounted on Sintra Panel. Dimensions: 8"x10" unframed, 9"x11" framed. Gouache is very closely related to watercolor. It uses the same gum Arabic binder, but has more pigment which is not ground as finely as watercolor. Professional gouache colors are so opaque and vibrant, because they have the highest pigment load of any other painting medium.
The painting is framed in a white synthetic lightweight wall-mounting photo frame, 5/8" width, 5/8" depth, with hanging hardware included, and is ready to hang. No glass included, as the painting is protected with coats of archival varnish and does not need to be framed under glass.
