In the weeks that followed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963, Warhol began to collect pictures of the widowed First Lady that flooded the popular press. The close-cropped image here reproduces a moment shortly after shots were fired. My figure is contemplating this powerful portrait.
