Birds of the crow family all have a slightly sinister look, and I have tried to capture that look in this painting of a jackdaw. The black and dark grey colouring of the feathers, the piercing eye and the dark background all add to the malevolence.
I live next door to a farm with dilapidated stone barns that house many jackdaws, and they certainly can be quite cruel the the small garden birds. However, I like to see them sitting together in pairs on the power lines in the springtime behaving very affectionately towards each other.
This small painting can be hung or will stand on a shelf.
