Three years ago I painted in the open air in Italy, in a small town on the Adriatic Sea called Lido di Spina. We chose a picturesque place on the map of Italy and came there to paint in the open air. We lived in the street named after Leonardo da Vinci, surrounded by the streets of Giotto, Titian, Tintoretto, Caravaggio and Piero Della Francesca. Lido di Spina is the southernmost resort of the province of Comacchio, a place created for a leisurely pacifying vacation surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Here, cosy streets have quite a wealth of green pines. Time passes slowly in their shades, so you can rest your body and your hearts. I was especially fascinated by huge Italian pines with their picturesque furry crowns looking like giant umbrellas. I heard that it was a pine that gave her name to Pinocchio, one of the most favourite characters of children's fairy tales. They say that his curious long nose was made by Papa Carlo precisely from a pine branch ... According to another version, not only his nose, but the whole body of the little boy was carved from the log of Italian pine ... For me, pines are connected with my memories of the warm Italian sun, the clean salty sea and the picturesque Italian nature.
