About Alexandra Jagoda (Ovcharenko)

Biography

"Everything flows. Everything changes. Everything leaves a trace."

Every painting begins with a place—but it is never simply about geography.
Whether inspired by the misty valleys of Ireland, the quiet lakes of England, or an imagined landscape shaped by memory, I paint nature as an emotional experience rather than a literal view. My landscapes are invitations to slow down, to breathe, and to reconnect with the quiet moments that modern life often leaves behind.

Working primarily in oil, I build each surface through many expressive layers of paint using brushes and palette knives. Thick impasto is not only a visual language—it gives the painting a physical presence. As light moves across the textured surface throughout the day, the artwork changes, revealing new colors, shadows, and details. No photograph can fully capture this experience.

Alongside landscapes, my figurative drawings and mixed media portraits explore identity, memory, and transformation. Torn paper, charcoal, and layered materials become metaphors for the stories we carry within us. Whether I paint a landscape or a face, I am searching for the same thing: the quiet space where memory, emotion, and material meet.

Every artwork is painted entirely by hand in my studio in Belgium using professional materials. Each piece is unique, created slowly and intentionally, allowing the process itself to leave visible traces.

I hope my paintings become more than objects on a wall. I hope they become places people return to—bringing calm, reflection, and a sense of belonging for many years to come.
