Rainy clouds from the coast of the Isle of Skye in deep teal, gray and white. There are days when even the rain makes everything more beautiful here on our northern islands. When you know that looking from the window everything is softened and muted yet brings that sense of distance from all things real.
The tiny island foremost in the picture is Eilean Tigh or Island Home or Home Island. It is connected to the island of Raasay (Island of the Roe Deer) at high tides. Some hundreds of years ago a few families lived here so the name lives on.
The image is a creation from an original photograph where I have added textures like those of the rain and the rocks.
A passion for printing....
I am passionate about printing my own work. I have spent many years perfecting this skill and selecting the most beautiful paper and canvas to work with. People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use.
This print is prepared using exquisite Canson Fine Art Canvas. This heavy textured paper is extremely age resistant and has the look and feel of traditional watercolour paper.
Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for artists for over 450 years. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon. The Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the beautifully decorated first hot air balloon and worked with designers who supplied the wallpaper for Marie Antoinette. In more recent times, Canson paper and canvas has been used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists.

I also work with other art papers and canvases so if you have a special request please just let me know.
