The tiny islands of Rona, Raasay and Eilean Fladday sit between the Isle of Skye and Applecross on the mainland of the Scottish Highlands. Swirling in mist and outlined only in silhouette they seem magical and full of mystery. This image was made from the cliff tops on the Isle of Skye on a misty day in Winter when the light was drifting softly through the clouds creating hazy pools of light on the water. Like a dream, these islands are hard to focus on, there are fleeting glances of their shapes before they disappear again into the mist.
This is some of my latest work, I am using special techniques to create the dreamy look and the colours I am using reflect the beautiful teal blue of the water surrounding the islands.
I photograph and print every image, I do not outsource any part of my workflow. Each canvas has been painstakingly crafted to ensure the true colours, resolution and texture are exactly as they should be.
For these special small editions of my work I use Canson® Infinity Museum ProCanvas. This fabulous 100% cotton canvas has been designed "for professionals producing true Fine Art Reproductions that require precision images with a very high resolution".
