By the side of a canal, on a hot day, a couple laze in the sun. Intense privacy, an afternoon of high emotion, and perhaps high stakes too. Who are they and what are they thinking? Do we identify with them? London is present in the work, it is there, an invisible backdrop, along with the distant roar of the city and the muffled rumble of canal traffic. A work of strong light and strong colour. The canvas is 0.4 inches deep and can therefore hang without the need for framing if wished. An ideal romantic gift.
